Medicine
It is common for human beings to experience pain. As an attempt to totally alleviate this excruciating feeling of physical discomfort, several types of relievers and antidotes have been developed and discovered. These antidotes and relievers come in the form of medicines.
In practical terms, medicine is described as the science and art of healing. Medicine can refer to a number of health care practices that serve as a means to prevent or treat diseases and to generally maintain good human health conditions. Medical assistance is usually “delivered” through clinics and hospitals where medical professionals such as doctors and nurses attend to “patients” needing advice or immediate treatment.
Medicine is a broad term; it is divided into subcategories termed as “specialties.” Medical professionals can be classified as surgeons, those who employ general operative treatments; internal medicine specialists, those who provide treatment to diseases affecting specific parts/organs of the body; or diagnostic specialists, those who specialize in the technical aspects of medicine which involve X-rays, ultrasonography, etc.
Other health professionals also practise the science of pharmacy. Pharmacists are typically the ones qualified to provide the medicines prescribed by another health care provider to a patient. Usually, the prescribed medicines are in the form of tablet and liquid solutions. Many people generalize the term “medicine” to these tablet and liquid solutions.
